The Internet purchasing guide, Kelkoo.com (http://www.kelkoo.com), created in November 1999 by Pierre Chappaz and Mauricio Lopez, enables internauts to discover 1,400 French boutiques on-line and provides a great deal of practical advice. Above all, it provides a service comparing prices and enabling consumers to purchase hundreds of different products travel, books, C/DVD, wines, games, computers, software, hi-fi / video, electrical appliances, motor vehicles, apartments… at the cheapest rates available on the market. Having opened its site to the general public on February 3rd, Kelkoo.com has launched a major advertising campaign, set to last until the end of March. The result: during the first two weeks, Kelkoo a recorded an average of 15,000 visitors per day and an increase in its audience of 6,000 new users per day. Altogether, 100,000 different users visited the site in February. Following this success, Kelkoo.com has increased its audience objectives, and is now predicting a total of 250,000 users in France in the month of June 2000. The purchasing guide is now preparing its launch in Great Britain, Spain, Italy and Germany, and expects to reach a total traffic of 1 million users by the end of 2000.
